The grinding process is often described as
process thermo mechanical as it affects wheel wear and work material properties.
during the iron grinding process, a re-hardening process occurs because the temperature of the work material at the contact zone exceeds its hardening temperature.
- Grinding Machine In the world of manufacturing, especially in the world of construction, it is used to remove parts of material that are not used in order to get surface results in accordance with expectations and in accordance with the correct size, and accurate workpiece shape.
Grinding Machine is also commonly referred to as an abrasive grinding machine. This is because abrasive materials have properties that if placed on the surface will perform the finishing process more accurately. We encounter this Grinding Machine in several jobs that use it to complete a workpiece.Grinding machine consists of several main parts, as follows:
- Base
- Column
- Head stock
- rear stock
- Workbench
- Wheel Head
- Grinding Wheels or Abrasives
- Crossfeed or Traversing Wheel and
- Cooling Supply Nozzles
𝐶𝑜𝑟𝑛𝑒𝑟 / 𝐵𝑎𝑠𝑖𝑠: Is a place made of cast iron. It is located horizontally and is the bottom of the grinding machine, whose function is to provide a race to all parts of the grinding machine as a whole. In the process of starting the machine operation, vibrations occur so that the base acts to absorb these vibrations.
- 𝐾𝑜𝑙𝑜𝑚: This is the vertical pillar of the machine, which contains the abrasive wheel, wheel head, and wheel guard. The column is made of cast iron.
- 𝐻𝑒𝑎𝑑𝑠𝑡𝑜𝑐𝑘: This part of the headstock functions to match the center and also maintain the performance of the object.
- 𝑇𝑎𝑖𝑙𝑠𝑡𝑜𝑐𝑘 : The tailstock is a dead point, but in this section the tailstock also helps grip the workpiece.
- 𝑇𝑎𝑏𝑙𝑒 𝑊𝑜𝑟𝑘: In this section, the new grinding machine, headstock and tailstock are replaced with table work. The table work is shaped like a magnetic chuck that can hold the workpiece.
- 𝑊ℎ𝑒𝑒𝑙 𝐻𝑒𝑎𝑑: In this section there is space for the abrasive wheel which functions to operate and move vertically from top to bottom. By using the Feed hand, we can adjust the Wheel Head. Move the wheel head down so that the grinding wheel can touch the workpiece. The Wheel Head consists of a grinding wheel and a motor.
- 𝑅𝑜𝑑𝑎 𝐺𝑟𝑖𝑛𝑑𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑎𝑡𝑎𝑢 𝐴𝑏𝑟𝑎𝑠𝑖𝑣𝑒: Grinding Wheels or Abrasives are the primary equipment that must be used in the process of removing useless material in order to get satisfactory results with a smooth surface and in accordance with expectations. There are four common wheel abrasives used for grinding machine wheel surfaces: Aluminum oxide, silicon carbide, cubic boron nitride (CBN), and diamond.
- 𝐶𝑟𝑜𝑠𝑠 𝑓𝑒𝑒𝑑 Cross feed is the most important part of the grinding machine which is used to move up and down or left and right Headstock and Table Work and so on.
𝑇𝑟𝑎𝑣𝑒𝑟𝑠𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑊ℎ𝑒𝑒𝑙 There are three types of Traversing Wheel, including the following: - Hand Traversing Wheel : This wheel is used to move the tablework in a vertical direction both left and right according to the tool and workpiece.
- Cross Side : Used to move the Work Table in the forward and backward direction and
- Vertical Feed Hand Wheel : Vertical Feed Hand Wheel is used to move the head of 𝐶𝑜𝑜𝑙𝑎𝑛𝑡 𝑆𝑢𝑝𝑝𝑙𝑦 𝑁𝑜𝑧𝑧𝑙𝑒: The main function of the Coolant Supply Nozzle is to play a role in cooling or lowering the temperature generated during the grinding process, so that wear does not occur due to the high temperature formed between the wheel and the working object. The material for cooling can be water or other oil. wheel in a direction that can be moved in the vertical direction up and down.
